Hygiene Promoter Officer

Affectation: Cox Bazaar district

Duration of the contract: 10 months    

I. Presentation of the organisation

SOLIDARITES is a humanitarian organisation which provides aid and assistance to victims of war and natural disasters. For the past 25 years, the organisation’s vocation has been to meet the three vital needs - drinking, eating and sheltering – of vulnerable populations around the world. Our programs mainly focus on emergency relief actions related to water and sanitation but also related to food security as well as shelter and infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction.

II. Responsibilities and duties:

• Assess the practices in the area (KAP survey) and analyse the result of this survey
• Develop new tools for the hygiene and training sessions
• Manage the team of Hygiene Promoters (14 persons)
• Organize their work, set up objectives
• Train them regarding the set up of hygiene sessions
• Work in collaboration with the other programmes department (water and sanitation) in order to set up on time hygiene and training sessions
• Give daily and weekly report to the project manager
• Relation with local authorities

III. Requirements:

• This position is a senior staff position, related experiences are compulsory.
• Ability to work in autonomy
• Ability to negotiate with people
• Ability to inform people and authorities about maintenance, hygiene…
• Ability to follow technical guidelines
• Ability to supervise and take decision
• Good communication skills
• Ability to motivate people 
• Computer skills (Word and Excel)
• English is required (weekly reporting)
• Knowledge of the area is appreciated
