Deputy Programme Manager

Duration of the contract: 10 months   

I. Presentation of the organisation

SOLIDARITES is a humanitarian organisation which provides aid and assistance to victims of war and natural disasters. For the past 25 years, the organisation’s vocation has been to meet the three vital needs - drinking, eating and sheltering – of vulnerable populations around the world. Our programs mainly focus on emergency relief actions related to water and sanitation but also related to food security as well as shelter and infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction.

II. Responsibilities and duties:

  • Follow the implementation of the activities in water and sanitation
  • Assess the relevancy of the activities implemented
  • Make the link between the different department of the programme team: sanitation, water and hygiene promotion
  • Help the Programme Manager with his daily task
  • Supervise the works and the workers
  • Control the quality of the activities implemented by Solidarites
  • Give daily and weekly report to the project manager
  • Relation with local authorities

III. Requirements:

  • This position is a senior staff position, project cycle management related experiences are compulsory.
  • Ability to work in autonomy
  • Ability to negotiate with people
  • Ability to inform people and authorities about maintenance, hygiene…
  • Ability to follow technical guidelines
  • Ability to supervise and take decision
  • Ability to calculate the bill of quantity, to prepare all the required documents for a good supervision of work site
  • skills in masonry
  • skills in sanitation and/or water and/ or hygiene promotion 
  • Computer skills (Word and Excel)
  • English is required (weekly reporting)
  • Knowledge of the area is appreciate
