Sanitation Engineer

Affectation: Cox Bazaar district

I. Presentation of the organisation:

SOLIDARITES is a humanitarian organisation which provides aid and assistance to victims of war and natural disasters. For the past 25 years, the organisation’s vocation has been to meet the three vital needs - drinking, eating and sheltering – of vulnerable populations around the world. Our programs mainly focus on emergency relief actions related to water and sanitation but also related to food security as well as shelter and infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction.

II. Responsibilities and duties:

  • Assess the existent sanitation infrastructures to determine their sustainability
  • Make design, bill of quantity and estimation cost for sanitation infrastructures
  • Assess and follow the work of subcontractors
  • Be part of the preparation of the MOU with the community and involve the comity in the work
  • Supervise the works and the workers
  • Control the quality of the work
  • Organise the quantity and quality of material at manufacturer sites
  • Set up maintenance committee
  • Manage the sanitation team (2 persons)
  • Supervise their work and organize their planning  
  • Give daily and weekly report to the project manager
  • Relation with local authorities

III. Requirements:

  • This position is a senior staff position, engineering and sanitation related experiences are compulsory
  • Ability to work in autonomy
  • Ability to negotiate with people
  • Ability to inform people and authorities about maintenance, hygiene…
  • Ability to follow technical guidelines
  • Ability to supervise and take decision
  • Ability to calculate the bill of quantity, to prepare all the required documents for a good supervision of work site

  • English is required (weekly reporting)
  • Knowledge of the area is appreciated
